If You Find a Wild Animal and Want to Keep It

It is illegal for anyone to raise a wild animal without proper permits.

There are many good reasons for this:

Wild animals are not meant to live with humans. While they may be cute when young, they will destroy things and bite as they get older. And once they have imprinted on people, most are unable to be returned to the wild and will have to be killed.

Wild animals sometimes spread diseases, some of which we may not even be aware of because of lack of testing.

Baby animals take a great deal of time to properly care for. They need a very specialized diet and need to eat frequently. They need to be inoculated against various diseases as well.

Animals that have been kept as pets and then released into the wild often die a slow death of starvation or frostbite.

Loving someone means thinking of what is best for them.

Please, help keep wild animals wild!
