BREAKING NEWS:
THIS IS WONDERFUL!!!! And WE
ARE SO EXCITED!!!!
Home Depot Foundation
has selected A.R.K. as the receipient of a grant for $6,900 to
renovate our nursery! Everything is scheduled to begin on April
30, May 1 & 2, and will be done by Houghton Lake Home Depot
employees (volunteers) and assisted by A.R.K. volunteers. They
will be putting in new cabnets, countertop, hot water heater,
furnace, flo...oring,
garage door, and exterior door, plus fencing for fawns. We are
thrilled and very grateful to have been selected to be the
non-profit organization that they chose to support. A special
"THANK YOU" to Deb Deny, and store manager Matt from Home Depot
Houghton Lake, for working so hard to make this happen to help us
help the kritters. We are all very grateful to everyone that will
be involved in this project! Our own volunteer and Secretary Ruth
Corwin is the person responsible for making this wonderful
opportunity happen. She has worked since last fall to make this a
reality, Thank You Ruth!

"The
Babies are coming, the babies are coming!!!" The
best way we know to herald the approaching baby season at "The
A.R.K." is to announce it loudly and clearly at The 2012 A.R.K.
Baby Shower!
This funfilled event will be held at
the Back...us
Township Hall, right next door to "The A.R.K." on
Sunday April 15,
from 1 P.M. til 4 P.M. This is an opportunity to tour the A.R.K.
facility, See where the education birds live, and where the
hundreds of injured and orphaned kritters will be cared for that
find their way to "The A.R.K. Every year we have a Baby Shower
with games, prizes, refreshments, and now, a chance to tour "The
A.R.K." Come and meet our Education Birds and the people that
handle and train them. This is an opportunity to bring in "gifts"
for our kritters. The items that we use in huge quantities,
bleach, laundry detergent (must be "He" because we have the large
high efficency machines), paper towels, heavy flat-bottom ceramic
bowls, puppy chow, kitten chow, Clorox Clean-up, dish soap, baby
wipes(unscented) and many other items which we will post here on
fb and on our website at
www.arkritters.org.
Please plan to join us for a funfilled way for anyone who wants to
help us help the kritters and have a funfilled Sunday afternoon,
meeting A.R.K. volunteers and touring "The A.R.K." Call if you
have questions, 989-389-3305. We hope to see YOU there. Ruth
Fruehauf, ARK Director
Our next
mouse run is Wednesday, April 11. We should return
to the ARK with the mice and rats about 7 pm. We can use your help
with the packing. If you're able to help out, please call the ARK at
989 389-3305. The May mouse run will be posted at a later date. Thanks
for your help!
The
ARK is selling Michigan made maple syrup for a fundraiser.
We are getting 16 oz
jugs of the same syrup. Since the jug contains 1/3 more syrup (16
oz vs 12 oz), the jug will be $10. The syrup should be at the ARK
by this weekend. On behalf of all the kritters at the ARK, thank
you for helping with this fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds will be used for
the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned Michigan
wildlife. If you'd like some syrup, please contact one of the
volunteers or call the ARK at (989) 389-3305.
